Aftab Iqbal, a well-known TV broadcaster, came under fire from Pakistani cricket fans for his offensive remarks towards Babar Azam, the captain of the national side. Speaking on his show, Khabarhar, Aftab claimed that Babar Azam had lost his star power and had grown egotistical.

Aftab continued by saying that Babar has become conceited as a result of his quick rise to fame. Instead of becoming a “dictator,” he advised Babar to keep his feet on the ground and remember his roots. He continued by implying that Babar chooses the Pakistani national squad out of bias and excludes good individuals due to his egotistical outlook.

The host of the TV program suggested that players like Haris Sohail, Imad Wasim, and Faheem Ashraf be named to the national team roster and that Babar should ask Shoaib Malik to rejoin the squad in order to address Pakistan’s middle-order batting issues.

The nation’s cricket community reacted to social media in an uproar to support the star batter after Aftab’s stinging words. Many of the users talked about their meetings with Babar personally, highlighting his humility, while others made fun of Aftab for his cricket analysis.
